1. OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this circular is to inform Spanish airspace users about a change in the way PBN holdings have been published in Spanish AIP. Transiently both the current and this new way of publishing will coexist, until this progressive change is completed for all holding patterns.
2. DESCRIPTION OF CHANGES
The way information about PBN holding patterns in Spanish AIP has been delivered consist basically on giving associated headings on the chart and including holding pattern coding (HM typically) with outbound leg information defined by time.
Change now consists on including two types of information associated to PBN holding patterns defined in AIP-ESPAÑA:
- On the one hand, on the charts, information needed to perform the holding pattern manually over the designated WPT, typically outbound time or alternatively waypoint distance (WD, as per the following figure):

- On the other hand, the coding section linked to the chart could additionally include the holding pattern coding associated to the use of some holding functionality (typically HM) for those same holding patterns. In this case, outbound length will be the coded parameter.
