Obstacle data are intended to be used in the following air navigation applications: a) ground proximity warning system with forward looking terrain avoidance function and minimum safe altitude warning system; b) determination of contingency procedures for use in the event of an emergency during a missed approach or take-off; c) aircraft operating limitations analysis; d) instrument procedure design (including circling procedure); e) determination of en-route “drift-down” procedure and en-route emergency landing location; f) advanced surface movement guidance and control system; and g) aeronautical chart production and on-board databases. The data may also be used in other applications such as flight simulator and synthetic vision systems, and may assist in determining the height restriction or removal of obstacles that pose a hazard to air navigation. Edificio 2 - Kudos Innovation Campus Las Mercedes Madrid Madrid 28022 Spain mailto: ais@enaire.es https://aip.enaire.es distributor dataset Entire territory of Spain Obstacle data for Area 1 are obtained directly from AESA (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea) or through AESA from the responsible party of the measurement of the obstacle as part of an excel file. The obstacles are automatically imported into a GIS database and from there exported into XML format for distribution. Not all the data comply with the numerical requirements set out in Annex 15 of ICAO. The dataset includes metadata which allow the degree of compliance with the numerical requirements set out in Annex 15 of ICAO to be evaluated in each case. These metadata should be used in order to determine if the products are fit for their intended use. Air navigation obstacles that have been duly reported in accordance with the regulations in force are included. If obstacles not reported are known to exist, it is the responsibility of its promoter/owner to communicate them to the Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA) as the competent authority responsible for their supervision.
