MADRID/Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas AD (LEMD).- Installation of mega towers on T123, M5 and M2 area.

Until 22 January 2027 (estimated), works will be carried out on the movement area of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport for the installation of two mega towers between the T123 apron and TWY M5 and TWY M2.

For the execution of these works, concerning the installation of exterior lighting on Apron T123 affecting adjacent taxiways, two main phases have been defined 1 and 2, each divided into parts A and B: 1.A, 1.B, 2.A, and 2.B.

The start and end dates of each phase, as well as the lifting or dismantling of the towers or any operational issue, will be published through the corresponding NOTAM. The sequence of work phases will follow the following conditions:

• Phases 1.B and 2.B shall not be carried out simultaneously.

• The order of execution will depend on the operational requirements of the airport.

Works shall not be performed when LVP are in force.

The works area will be properly marked with day and night lighting and closed to traffic H24.

Caution is advised due to the presence of personnel and machinery. Aircraft shall taxi at minimum power in the vicinity of the works areas to avoid jet blast affecting personnel.

Taxi routes shall be maintained, as far as possible, in accordance with the standard routing. In case of deviations, ATC and/or SDP instructions shall be followed.

PHASE 1

PHASE 1.A

Work location: Area between PRKG 90 and TWY M2.

Operational restrictions:

• Turn from TWY M2 to TWY C2: not permitted for B757 and B767 aircraft due to jet blast effect.

PHASE 1.B

Work location: Strip along TWY M2.

Operational restrictions:

• TWY M2 downgraded to Code D.

• Turn from TWY M2 to TWY C2: not permitted for B757 and B767 aircraft due to jet blast effect.

PHASE 2

PHASE 2.A

Work location: Island between TWY M5, TWY C5, TWY C6, and TWY A5.

Operational restrictions:

• Turn from TWY C6 to TWY A5: not permitted for B757, A340, and B777 aircraft due to jet blast effect.

• Code F aircraft B747-8 shall exercise extreme caution when taxiing along TWY C6. Movement of this aircraft type along TWY C6 shall be carried out in accordance with ATC and/or SDP instructions.

PHASE 2.B

Work location: TWY M5.

Operational restrictions:

• TWY M5 closed.

• PRKG 36 and PRKG 37 closed.

• Turn from TWY C6 to TWY A5: not permitted for B757, A340, and B777 aircraft due to jet blast effect.

• Code F aircraft B747-8 shall exercise extreme caution when taxiing along TWY C6. Movement of this aircraft type along TWY C6 shall be carried out in accordance with ATC and/or SDP instructions.
