FUERTEVENTURA AD (GCFV) - Airfield compliance works.

Until 20 March 2026 (estimated), airfield compliance works will be conducted at Fuerteventura Airport.

The works will be carried out in 7 phases. The start and end dates of each phase, as well as any operational incidents which may arise, will be notified by the corresponding NOTAM.

The works will be carried out mainly outside the airport’s operational hours. Even so, a 30-minute time period to vacate the work zone has been considered when required for medical flights with a permit to operate outside operational hours.

The phases may not necessarily be executed in the given order.

All work zones will be duly marked and lit.

Caution is recommended due to the presence of personnel and machinery.

PHASE 1: Levelling of the graded runway strip (EAST and WEST).

The works will be carried out during non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Ground levelling works in the critical areas of GP 19 and LOC 01.

  • Ground levelling works on the graded runway strip.

 

PHASE 2: Removing obstacles on the runway strip.

The works will be carried out during non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Obstacle clearance and adaptation works on the runway strip.

Works on MET equipment (THR 19 anemometer).

  • Ground levelling and obstacle adaptation works in the critical areas of GP 19 and LOC 01.

 

PHASE 3: Demolition of old VOR facilities.

The works will be carried out during operational and non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Demolition of the old VOR shed.

 

PHASE 4: Relocating the water tank of the fire protection and drinking water system.

Works in the vicinity of the manoeuvring area will be carried out during non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Demolition of the water tank

  • Relocation of services

  • Adaptation of the resulting land

Impact:

  • Closure of PRKG 16 with markings and lighting.

 

PHASE 5: Compliance of cargo apron markings.

The works will be carried out during non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Modifications to the apron border line and modifications to the service road configuration, without affecting parking stands.

 

PHASE 6: Actions related to lighting system compliance.

The works will be carried out during non-operational hours. Works within view of traffic may be authorised without closing taxiways during operational hours if deemed appropriate by the airport.

The following works are scheduled on TWYs A1, A4, A5, E1 to E10, L1, L4, L5 and T during this phase:

  • Underground electrical works.

  • Installation of aeronautical lighting on taxiway surfaces.

Impact:

  • Works within view of traffic on taxiways without areas closed to traffic.

  • Downgrading of taxiway visual aid systems (centre lines and stop bars).

 

PHASE 7: Border fencing and service road compliance.

The works will be carried out during non-operational hours.

During this phase, the following works will be carried out:

  • Relocating the border fencing.

  • Demolition and relocation of the border roadway.

  • Demolition of wall.
