TRANSITION OF THE AENA AIO OFFICES TO ENAIRE

1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this AIC is to inform Spanish airspace users of the changes that will take place in the Aeronautical Information Offices (AIO) of most Spanish Airports.

2. CONTEXT

Aeronautical Information Offices (AIO) are responsible for providing pre-flight and post-flight information services to end-users (pilots, airlines, etc.). Currently, the AIO are located in the operations offices of the aerodromes/heliports to which they provide services.

In these offices, users have access to the different items of the Integrated Documentation, essential cartography and Pre-Flight Information Bulletins, as well as physical terminals for accessing ICARO and the ENAIRE website, additionally, verbal information is provided on request.

Currently, the pre-flight and post-flight information functions described in ICAO Annex 15 are provided in Spain by the following means:

Online via the ENAIRE website:

AIO offices at airports and heliports.

International NOTAM office (NOF).

This change involves a transition from the current scenario, where AIO offices are physically located in the airports of the AENA network, to another scenario where ENAIRE will provide the AIO service centrally, from a single office, for 42 airports in the AENA network.

The Centralised AIO Office will be integrated into the current International NOTAM Office (NOF), located at the Madrid ACC, in Torrejón de Ardoz.

Within this new context, the current AIO offices of the AENA Network airports will cease to provide pre-flight and post-flight information and will no longer offer physical terminals for user access to ICARO and the ENAIRE website. All other assigned functions related to the distribution of local information bulletins and AIS data originator will be maintained.
